Close your eyes. Imagine a packed, sweaty dance floor in the middle of a smoke-filled room. The inside of your mouth has that malty feel that chases a couple glasses of wine. Both family and friends are present; both family and friends are showing off their most insane dance moves. Even your in-laws have found their way to the dance floor tonight. This mental picture is exactly what you need before you press play on Zebu Zarina’s newest single ‘The Name is Also Mine’ below.
Zebu Zarina is an Aarhus-based six-piece consisting of Halfdan (Guitar), Nikolaj (Bass), Sebastian (Saxophone), Johan (Drums), Nadia (Trumpet), and Mikkel (Vocals). Drawing on a couple of years of involvement in the Aarhus music scene, they craft music, which resists categorization. By using different elements from pop-, rock-, and Balkan music they end up with some kind of delicious stock cube with an intense taste of sunnier climes, cheap alcohol and ‘take it easy’-mentality.
Due to their fierce energetic and experimenting style, Zebu Zarina is indeed a band that belongs on the dance floor; they are an act that simply must be experienced live. With their newest single they have brought themselves back into the limelight. Expect more gypsy-vibes from the local outfit when they perform at HeadQuarters with HÉRÖ on May 21 – find the event here.
