The debut single from SANT came in November last year, and back then, I had the pleasure of writing about it. The single was called ‘Private Sager’ (see the video here), the first single from the EP we’re premiering today, and I remember thinking that it was a pretty impressive first single, and that I couldn’t wait to hear more. Well, I’ve had my first rounds with their EP ‘Ting & Sager’, and it’s exactly what I’d hoped.
This 4-track EP is called ‘Ting & Sager’, which is basically stuff in English. A bit of a casual name, but the reason is found in the process behind; as much as this is their first record, this is also about finding out what SANT essentially is. And exactly what is SANT? What we know, for now, is that it is a six-piece band from Aarhus. That they create an original, atmospheric soundscape centred around compelling singing from Sara Flindt, and we know that ‘Ting & Sager’ is a really, really good debut EP.
I’m not gonna write this as a review, I’m simply just trying to tell you, that you should give SANT a chance. I mean, it’s not for everyone, I understand that, but it’s definitely worth exploring this EP, as in putting it on your stereo at home; press play, sit back, walk around, dance a little, look out the window for a moment, act like you’re the drummer in the band, then sit back again. That’s sort of what I’ve been doing while listening to ‘Ting & Sager’, the debut EP from a new, talented (and local) band called SANT. Who knows, you might end up doing exactly the same.
