Energetic pop-rock on HQ
The funky name belongs to an energetic pop-rock trio who have been making a name for themselves since 2010. The group consists of the three members Robert Jancewizc (vocals and guitar), Kuba Sypniewski (bass) and Kristian Kjærgård. Robert and Kuba, originating from Poland, met Kristian at the University of Århus, they all hit it off and their music career started.
In 2011 Federal Unicorn released their first record ”Blame It on My Libido”, which had a very wild-child and stomp-your-feet-on-the ground kind of sound. The album showed definite potential in the band, but in the end it didn’t contain an outstanding amount songs with great quality and musical longevity. It was a clash and mash up drums and guitar that seldom met and matched for that sound of solid indie pop rock.
On the new material released by FU, the sound is more put together, which gives you the feeling that the band has grown, and grown up and is on its way to having a sound that is their own. As the band has said on their facebook page “As much as we treasure our roots, we feel like we’ve really grown out of most of the songs on that album, whereas our new stuff is something we see as more timeless and thus want those songs to be our make-up and outfit for the world”.
Federal Unicorn has released two new songs on their SoundCloud, which show how much the group has actually grown. Both “Eline” and “Lets go out” ring of being put together and having been through a thorough thought process. With this in mind, you should definitely consider heading down to Headquarters this Friday when FU is playing, supported by Turbo Child and DJ Captain Carried Away. Doors open at at 21:30
