A talented young rapper by the name Earl Sweatshirt is now emerging from the shade of the 2011 phenomenon “Tyler the Creator”. Rap enthusiasts are already chanting his name, and those who are not that into the rap game will have heard of his crew “Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All” (OFWGKTA). This year he is coming to DK twice! First he will hit Aarhus at the popular venue Voxhall, and then this summer he will be bringing down Roskilde Festival.

The first the world knew of Earl Sweatshirt was based on a song/music video by the name “Earl” posted some four years ago. In the video the OFWGKTA crew blended all drugs known to mankind with some sort of soda, drank it and went nuts. The video provoked a lot of people and now people knew who these rebellious boys were. This, to some people, crazy way of behaving kept up and collided with the song “Yonkers” made by Earls crewmate Tyler the Creator, where Tyler the Creator eats a big ass bug, and pretends to hang himself.
Whether the drugs became too much or Earl simply needed a break it all led to him leaving for Samoa where he would spend 18 months in what some medias call a boarding school, and others call a rehab center. To the public his whereabouts was at first a great mystery and led to a lot of hype, and even some “free earl” chants on OFWGKTA tracks.
On the second of May 2012 the New York Times wrote “Earl Sweatshirt is back from the wilderness”. Upon returning Earl seemed to have gained more focus only a year and a half after his return he dropped his debut album, which would come to be a major thing for his career. The album “Doris” consists of 15 dope tracks, and a lot of nice collaborations including big names from outside the OFWGKTA crew like RZA and Mac Miller.
Watch out for this young guy. He is only 19 (1994) and has only dropped one album, but already he has the story of a real rockstar! We can’t wait for him to spit some dope shit in our backyard, see you in Aarhus Earl!
