There is just something about the Aarhus-based outfit called Astronaut. For the last couple of years, they have been following the same strategy in cyclical movements: keeping quiet with only occasional updates, and then suddenly surprising us all with mesmerizing singles only to return to their silent and mysterious habitat again. The same applies to the contrast between the musical and visual expressions of the band; being highly fashionable and stylish in their visual expression, yet mysterious and haunting in their musical universe.
That being said, they are back with a new track. In October, they unveiled ‘Under The Ocean’, and although the title mirrors the mysterious behaviour of the band, we are talking about a release that is both magnificent and stadium-friendly in its expression. Although the single was released more than a month ago, this piece simply deserves an additional spin – and more attention; inviting the listener to conquer the dance floor with closed eyes all by yourself. Fans of Crystal Castles, and especially CC’s collab with Robert Smith of The Cure, will surely love ‘Under The Ocean’ from Astronaut. We only hope that the band’s scattershot approach to single releases indicates that they will soon release an album.
