This Friday Mellemblond + Mads Mouritz & Hælerne visits Radar.
Mellemblond is definitely one of the more original bands we have here in Denmark. They made their debut back in 2008, with a selftitled debut-EP that secured them airplay on national radiostation P3 – and since then they’ve been releaseing with nothing but succes. In 2009 they released their first full-length album that followed up on their succesful EP with even more succes. Some of the absolute biggest danish medias gave them 5 stars for an album where the poetic danish lyrics really impressed the nation.
In March this year they released their second full-length album Lysvågen, and just like the first album it took the danish music medias by storm. Gaffa and Soundvenue both gave them 5 stars and this time Mellemblond impressed with their way to bring a softer sound without compromising with their characteristics.
Behind this band you find a group of very talented musicians. Singer Kristoffer Munck Mortensen, producer Adrian Aurelius (The Raveonettes), songwriter and producer Mads Brinch (One Year From Home, 4 Guys From The Future), bass-player Jens Hein and drummer Silas Tinglef (Howl Baby Howl) have created the most authentic rock music with Danish lyrics seen in a long time, and their CV is nothing but impressive.
Mads Mouritz & Hælerne released their debut EP “Den sidste dag & den første” back in December’12. Singer Mads Mouritz had originally other plans with the material that is to be found on this EP, but after the band played together for the first time they realised that they had to play blues with Danish lyrics. And we’re glad they did!
Hælerne, by the way, consists of Kristoffer Munck Mortensen (Mellemblond, drummer Rune Kielsgaard (I Got You On Tape) and on bass Anders Wallin (The Gun).
Inspired by heroes such as Velvet Underground, Gasolin and JJ Cale this is definitely a very interesting sound!
Stop by Radar this Friday and be amazed by some of the best danish lyrics accompanied by very talented musicians!
