Danish Rapper Kasper Spez Brings His Official Release Party For His New Album “L O G I” To Aarhus This Weekend
This Friday the people of Aarhus will be treated with the official release party for the fabled Danish rapper Kasper Spez new album “L O G I” at Atlas. It’s been six years since he last spoke with “Fantasten”, his first album after a well-received EP “Love Junkie” three years earlier.
He was once known as one of the premier battle rappers of Denmark until he woke up with a record deal after getting drunk at Aarhus Took (At the time Denmark’s biggest hip hop festival). He had started making more serious track prior to “Love Junkie”, most notably “Kloak Barbie” from his home-burned three-track demo it was, however, his first official release that cemented his status as one of the greatest lyricist of Denmark.
With a reputation as being one of the slowest workers and rarest rappers in Denmark – having been compared to pre-“Monkeyjuice” Jøden and Kejser A in that sense – it’s no surprise that six years have passed since “Fantasten”. An album that showed a more mellow, almost singer-songwriter-ish Kasper Spez who at that time had started living a more simple life as documented in the documentary “Dagen Derpå”. It also spawned the single “Hvem jeg var” featuring L.O.C.
The new album “L O G I” is as usual produced by his partner in crime Esben Thornhal (L.O.C., Barbara Moleko) except for two tracks produced by the legendary Peder (Prunes, Pelding). It is described as a story about almost crossing the edge and sucking in all the freedom before running home as soon as it gets a bit dangerous. About the man who instigates conflicts just so he can have a little purpose in his empty life. The reviews are already very positive – 3 x 5 stars – and this Friday we will see if it will live up to the hype.
All we know is that the last two times he was here supporting Per Vers he delivered and we are expecting the same this time around at Atlas at 20:00.
