All I knew about Caribou was their song Odessa – a danceable electro groove that you couldn’t escape about 6 years ago! That’s why Caribou’s set was such a pleasant surprise – it blew the lid off NS16 in the late afternoon on a Sunday.
I was surprised to see a full band – expecting possibly Dan Snaith to arrive with a mixer and a MacBook – the usual – however his band, all clad in white, absolutely lifted a pretty swelling and increasingly intoxicated Sunday audience. The front man switched regularly between synths, drums and vocal duties – but mainly focused on building this incredibly dancey live show with well paced builds and deep grooves.
The crowd seem entranced and really just as the word had spread about how good Caribou were – their time was up and folks were begging for more.
I could definitely see myself going to another (live) Caribou show if I’m in the neighborhood – these Canadians can make a party – so award for ‘wow – that was actually good’ goes to Caribou on Sunday.
Award for "Wow - that was actually good" goes to these Canadians, who really knows how to party. (4/6)
