Our own staff writer- Bobby McBride, worked out the other day that he had been writing, recording and performing songs for exactly 20 years. Obviously McBride is no stranger to the local stages, however he vows that an intimate performance this Thursday evening at Café Oops! On Frederiksgade will be his chance to revisit highlights from a very long and strange musical journey.
Bobby has lived in Aarhus since 2006 and has performed in numerous musical guises such as “The Hoodoo Trash” (a psych/garage band featuring members of Tales Of Murder And Dust), “The Carney Brothers” (a sort of weird folk/punk outfit), and strangely enough, popping up on Jonny Hefty & Jøden’s new LP as a guitarist and co-writer with DJ Static at the helm.
McBride’s current endeavor is as co-frontman of local outfit Bonnie Cried, a more French influenced Garage/Western troupe that have announced some low-key shows around town just before they release an album in early summer. McBride’s solo recordings have ranged from Lo-fi symphonies, Guided by Voices and Smog-esque experimentation, Smiths/Morrissey type wit and guitar work, and straight up folk at times.
So come watch the man sing from over 20 years of song. Show starts at 21.00 and there is free entry. Café oops is located just across from Buddy Holly (or whatever the [email protected]$% its called now) in the heart of Aarhus on Frederiksgade.
