An electronic Saturday – free of EDM and fist-pumping, but with a whole lot of raving and dancing!
This Saturday Machinedrum (USA) + Odd Shapes + Aebeloe will be performing at Radar.
Machinedrum is an American electronic producer and DJ who is currently living in Berlin. For some time he has been a key figure on the electronic underground scene in America and has been involved in a lot of side projects, among others Sepalcure, Jets, Cream Continuum and as a collaborative producer for Azealia Banks.
But he grew tired of the testosterone-driven EDM-scene (‘Electronic Dance Music’) in his home country and fled to Europe, where he experienced a greater interest in his experimental and quirky style. Here he could express his music more freely and explore a scene that wasn’t all about fist-pumping at huge LED-lit shows.
His latest album ‘Room(s)’ was released in 2012 and was highly praised by critics as one of the most interesting and innovating albums of the year.
A reason for this is Machinedrum’s attitude of not sticking to one particular genre but mixing both UK funky, future garage, footwork, jungle, hip hop, R’n’B and house, creating his very own sound. But should one put a genre label on this experimental and modern hybrid, it would be that of IDM (‘Intelligent Dance Music’). According to the man behind, the music is mostly urban and particularly influenced by his earlier days as a 90s rave-kid.
In the fall Machinedrum is releasing his next full-length ‘Vapour City’ – the single ‘Eyesdontlie’ is already out for listen – so maybe there will be some new tunes to hear at the Saturday concert. Furthermore, he is known for some highly energetic shows so stop by and dance, and check out the two local warm-up acts – Odd Shapes and Aebeloe – as well.
Aebeloe and the DJ’s from danish Regnsky will be playing a free concert outside from 20:00-22:00
