We’re back. Once again it’s your monthly dose of Danish hip hop. And once again we are starting with Aarhus based producer HansSOLO and his new track “Carpe Diem” featuring the American rapper “Sincere”, who some people may know through his introduction through Statik Selektah. A great 18 year old upcoming talent from Michigan.
While were at HansSOLO, Eye N’ Eye (Not to be confused with the Swedish rapper Eye N’I) is a rapper/producer from Aarhus who is working on his debut-EP “Incarcerated Dreams” and also playing live gigs with HansSOLO. This is the great first-single and is as far as I know produced by Eye N’ Eye himself.
The Danish producer Kriswontwo has released his producer album “Ceremoni” on the American label Someothaship. It features a variety of MC’s and singers from both overseas and inbound. Most notable are American rappers like Skyzoo, Oh No, El Da Sensei, Edgar Allen Floe and MED. Check the whole album here, or check the video with MED underneath.
We switch it from English to Danish rap with Mund de Carlo and Manus Bell and their modern version of “To Sprog, Et Flow” produced by Manus Bell himself “Undergr(o)und”. A nice banging 90’s throwback feel.
If you were to mention a Danish rapper who might be considered a poet more than a rapper, Kasper Spez should be one of the first that comes to mind. He has just released his second album “Logi”. It’s been seven years since the last one and if you’re a fan well worth the wait. And with two productions from the legend himself; Peder.
Ham Den Lange, who unfortunately has just left Aarhus for a life in Copenhagen has released “Verden På Flugt”, a track about the refugee crisis and his opinion on the subject. Produced by Architech and a clever take on the issue, that has already been watched around 100.000 times on Facebook.
The Danish producer Antik, who is known for his sort of off-beat production style released his producer album “Mesterværk” with a bunch of noteworthy features, my favorites being Loke Deph, Trepac, Dr. Phill, Khalern, marki snøre, Timur, Particle Man and Supardejen. A whopping 27 tracks in the extended Bandcamp version.
Earlier this year, Boone & Trepac released the fantastic album “De Forkerte Spor” and have now released a very special remix edition called “De Forkerte Remixes”, where the 10 different producers remix 5 different tracks. Which means you get two takes on each track. Among the remixers are prominent names like Swab, Fede Poul, Supardejen, Architech, FMD and more.
While we are at the Copenhagen-based Echo Out, Lars Virkli and his brother IngrediJens have made a group called Asbestose and release the first single of their upcoming album featuring a bunch of samples picked up on a trip to Mumbai.
The producer Xeren, who is also a part of Echo Out, have released the “Out Of Loop” EP with a few interesting features. You can check the first video featuring Def Star Audio Emperor underneath or listen to the whole EP here.
We take it back to Aarhus were a lot of the locals have been keeping it busy. First of all the new group Liud have just released their mellow, chilled out EP “Langt Ude” for free download.
And the whole crew has made a couple of posse cuts that are worth checking out, featuring some of the upcoming rapperes out of Aarhus. First “mandagscypher” with marki snøre, Nicholai Én (formerly K-liir), Ali K and Simon from Liud produced by WhoGotDrumz.
And “dOnald” with Callas, marki snøre, Aalen and Ham Den Lange produced by BergBitter
The legendary Danish group Sphaeren (Supardejen & Stik Op Jakob) has just released their first album in six years “Indviet”. The album is produced by the likes of DJ Noize, Architech, Dr. Phill, KVBeats and more.
A lot of you might have seen Elbanovic (who used to live in Aarhus) win MC’s Fight Night last weekend, but you may not all know that he has just released the EP “Afhængig”. You can check the music video for the first single “Sygeligt Doven” underneath.
Last but not least we have the locals Lax & FMD with their mastodon of a track, the throwback energetic “Stor Mand” with a powerful scratch session at the end. Lax also has a few words for other rappers.
That’s it for next time. See you next month. Feel like we missed something? Let us know in the comment section.
